VTB-founder Herman Savenije passed away
Dear members of the Tropical Forest Assocation,
We’ve received very sad news. One of the founders of the Vereniging
Tropische Bossen (the Tropical Forest Association) has passed away last
week: Herman Savenije. Please read the full obituary on the website of

From the start Herman has played an important role at the VTB. Herman
was already a member of Stichting BOS, the forerunner of the VTB. He was
one of the people in this foundation who investigated in which way the
foundation BOS could continue. This resulted in the founding of the VTB
in 1999. In 2015 Herman became the first Honourable Member of the VTB.
His energy, ideas, network has stood for a great many activities amongst
which the notorious Are We On The Right Track-series. This series really
stood for exactly the combination of knowledge and network the VTB has
aimed for. His legacy is the continuation of this combination in the
future activities of the VTB.
We want to express our condolences to his family and friends and wish
them strenghth in this period and process.

Het bestuur heeft besloten de statuten van de vereniging te herzien, en vraagt aan alle leden om op het concept input op te geven.
Terugblik op studiedag 2021
Studiedag Huge Tree Plant Projects; Hype or Solution?
We mochten weer! Vrijdag 8 oktober was in Velp -maar ook op afstand- de studiedag van de VTB te volgen. Circa 60 deelnemers hadden zich verzameld voor een middag vol informatie en discussie over het thema, en ook online was de bijeenkomst goed bezocht.
VTB Algemene Ledenvergadering, 28 februari 2017
Op 28 februari organiseerde de Vereniging Tropische Bossen (VTB) haar Algemene Ledenvergadering (ALV), met dit jaar als thema voor het inhoudelijke deel: ‘Botanisch onderzoek: nut en toepassing voor beheer en behoud van tropisch bos’.
Tropical Forest Career Night 2019
Met een haast tropische regenbui begon op 19 juni de Tropical Forest Career Night geheel in stijl. Met een rustgevend drupje op de achtergrond luisterden we naar 5 inspirerende verhalen van professionals uit verschillende hoeken van het tropisch bos.
Netwerkavond Convenant Bevorderen Duurzaam Bosbeheer
Op de Netwerkavond van 16 mei hebben we van gedachten gewisseld over de mogelijke uitvoering van het nieuwe convenant ‘Bevorderen duurzaam bosbeheer’.
Verslag Netwerkmiddag ‘1 jaar EUTR: Stand van zaken’
Inmiddels is het ruim een jaar geleden dat de EUTR in werking is getreden dus het werd tijd om de balans op te maken. Op 7 mei organiseerde de VTB in samenwerking met WNF een netwerkmiddag over de stand van zaken met betrekking tot de EUTR.
